BURNABY, B.C. – RCMP confirm they have positively identified the remains of the first severed foot found on B.C.’s coast last year. The identity of the man will not be released at of the family.
Police are still unsure as to the cause of death however, investigators are not ruling out foul play.
Canadian Television News Channel CTV reported on Friday that the RCMP had identified one of the five feet washed ashore on British Columbia’s Southern Gulf Islands. The foot belongs to a missing man that suffered from depression, said RCMP Corp. Pierre LeMaitre. He added that foul play had been ruled out. Police plan to talk to the man’s family before releasing any further information.
The mysterious severed feet may have a connection south of the border in Washington State because in March 2007 the remains of a footless skeleton was found by a hiker on San Juan Island. San Juan County coroner Randall Gaylord called the RCMP on Thursday to begin the process of sharing information with the RCMP to determine if a connection can be made.
VANCOUVER – RCMP said today that DNA evidence has matched two of the five feet found on the shores of southwest B.C. are from the same man but investigators have yet to identify him. Originally 243 missing males were identified to be linked to the missing foot. RCMP spokeswoman Const. Annie Linteau said, police have been able to eliminate 132 people from that list.
A Spokesman for the B.C. Coroners Services, Jeff Dolan said a right foot found on Valdez Island on Feb. 2, 2008, and a left foot found on Westham Island on June 16, 2008, have been matched through DNA testing.
RCMP has also determined that one of the five feet is from a woman.
“It appears that these feet have naturally disarticulated from the body through a natural process,” said Linteau. She also said that, aside from the two matching feet, police have no evidence that the feet are connected. However, Linteau said police have not ruled out the possibility that some of the feet may belong to murder victims.
It turns out that someone has played a sick joke by faking the latest foot. Someone has placed a dog’s paw into a sock and shoe wrapped in seaweed to make it appear to be another human foot. RCMP said they are pursuing the ones responsible and charges will be place once they are caught.
This story continues to get stranger. Yesterday, June 17 a 6th foot was discovered near Campbell River British Columbia. With the exception of the foot found the day before, they have all been right feet cleanly cut wearing a sock and a running shoe. DNA testing has been done on the other feet but no matches to any known missing people.

For the fourth time in 9 months a severed human foot has washed up on the shores of British Columbia. This time RCMP say on the foot was discovered on Kirkland Island, near the mouth of the fraser river in Richmond. In August of 2007 two feet washed ashore within two weeks of each other. One on Gabriola Island and the other on Jedidah Island. Both were size twelve and wearing a Rebok shoe. In February a third foot was discovered on Valdes Island. Details about shoe size were not released. Police have made so far made no arrests.
Could there be a link to ritual human sacrifice? There are also a number of Masonic rituals that involve the dismemberment of human feet and other body parts. For instance earlier this year James Allanach, a Free Mason had his throat ritualistically cut and right ear removed by Luther Aday.
